CLAT 2025 Vocabulary in Context – Strategy, Examples & Practice

Vocabulary in Context questions test your understanding of word meanings as used in real passages. Unlike simple memorization, these questions require you to derive meaning based on how the word or phrase is used by the author.

📘 What Are Vocabulary in Context Questions?

These are typically asked in CLAT reading comprehension passages. You’ll be asked:

Here, you must not rely only on dictionary definitions — instead, understand the meaning from the sentence and overall tone.

🎯 How to Approach Vocabulary in Context Questions

  • Step 1: Read 2–3 lines before and after the word or phrase.
